I used the Canson XL watercolour card stock and with my blending tool, which is just a make up brush, I applied the inks. I started with the Hickory Smoke at the top and finished with the Dried Marigold at the bottom. I applied two layers, to make the colours more vivid.
I let the piece dry, which took several hours. If you do not want to wait, you can use a heat tool to speed up the drying process. Next I stamp the image with tulips. This is an older stamp set from Clearly Besotted that I really like. Tulips are one of my favourite flowers, especially to colour as they are not overly detailed. As real flowers, I think they tend to wither when in a vase and don't last too long. As I was going to use an embossing powder, I used the Versamark ink to stamp the flower and then I sprinkled a white embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.
Since I was using Distress inks and these inks react with water I sprinkled a few drops of water using a round brush. Then I placed a paper towel over it to soak it up, which also absorbs the colour and creates a cool splatter look.
After that I decided to colour the flower using the Distress inks. I swapped the Hickory Smoke with the ink Pine Needles for the green leaves. I squeezed the inks onto a slick board, mixed them with clean water and watercoloured the flower.
I attached a Happy Birthday greeting that I stamped and heat embossed in white on a black banner. I used a foam tape, so it's a little bit elevated. And then I adhered the whole panel on top a card base that I made out of a craft card stock.
Lastly I used the Nuvo Crystal Drops - Morning Dew to add a few drops across the panel. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow. QUICK VIDEO
