ABOUT
Hi! I'm Katarina. I love crafting and little bit of travelling and therefore I combined those two passions here on my NordicBee website by creating two blogs. One about crafting, where I share ideas and tutorials for handmade cards and the second blog about my adventures, like hiking, travelling in our motorhome and living abroad.
Do you want to know little bit more about me ? Well, here is a warning and you probably saw it in my blog posts, I cannot write short. If you asked me about a review of a movie, I would probably tell you the whole story. So here it is, you’ve been warned.

Me & Crafting
When I was young, in the country where I’m from - Slovakia, it wasn’t a thing to give cards. The interest in cards started, when I came to England to work as an au-pair. Especially at Christmas, the family received so many cards and they displayed it on their shelves, which I found absolutely wonderful and I do this myself ever since. Also at Christmas in England, many stores had packs of cards everywhere, you could not miss them. But during other occasions as well, like on Mother’s or Father’s Day, Easter or Valentine’s Day, there were signs that reminded you to get a gift for your loved ones and together with the gift you would get a card or just a card by itself. And this is how my interest and love for cards started!
However, it took some time until I started making the cards myself. Once, before Christmas, I was crocheting doilies and I got the idea to crochet a Christmas tree and adhere it to a card base and make my own Christmas cards. Actually I remade this card for this years Holiday Card Series and you can find it here. Although I had a lot of fun making those cards, this card making experience was very short lived. Next year I was back to buying my cards, because it took me forever to crochet those trees and I did not know that there is a card making community and that you could buy stamps and dies and make cards that way.
I came back to card making before Christmas 2013 in Ireland, when my friend told me that her family doesn’t send cards and she doesn’t really receive any. Something like I experienced when growing up, it just wasn’t something we did. Still, this gave me an opportunity to dig out my crochet Christmas trees (I had few left over), I bought few card bases in a local craft store and I made her a Christmas card.
This time, however I didn’t give up! My friend and my niece have Birthdays in February and I thought, let’s make a card again. I went back to the craft store, I bought some pattern paper, inks and stamps and made them cards.
Next, I found myself online, researching card making and discovering that cardmaking is a real thing. Since I watch a lot of YouTube, I stumbled across Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire and other amazing card makers. I started buying crafty supplies and learning new techniques.
I was simply hooked and haven’t stoped ever since!
In 2015 I started my blog (my old blog) and I called it CherryBee. And about year after I started my YouTube Channel. Those were and still are just a hobby, but these days I’m trying to take it more seriously and be more consistent. I even started a new website under a new name, because the old one became too disorganized and I called it NordicBee.
I love card making and sharing my creations with you!

Me & Travel
My next potion is traveling, but not the typical travel - discovering new countries, beach holidays or city trips and sightseeing. That’s not for me! I love road trips and hiking, multi-day hikes or just walks through the woods or just sitting by the lake and chill. That’s my type of travel!
For my first proper multi-day hiking trip I went to Jotunheimen National Park in Norway and despite of having bad weather, it was a great trip. The next year I went to Norway again and then to Sweden. In between me and my boyfriend (now husband) did few road trips across Ireland.
I didn’t travel much, in Ireland there were no hiking options, the best destinations were in Norway and Sweden, where we had to fly. We could do this only once a year.
Despite of this, I decided to start a second blog to write about my travels. I just was yearning to write about something else then cards. You see, writing about cards is not really exciting. Most of the time it’s pretty much the same. When I was preparing for those hikes, I researched online and this inspired me to share my experiences from my trips.
But, my travel blog did not go that well.
Originally, I started the blog in 2016, but I ended up deleting it. Then I restarted the blog again the next year, with the idea to call it My Adventure, so I’m not restricted to write just about my travels and can write about anything that interests me. That didn’t go well either. I just didn’t have the time to write.
However, after I started my new website, I am determined to write more. Well, so far it’s not going well, but I will start with re-releasing and refreshing my old blog posts, add content about me living abroad, learning languages. I hope I will have more articles about Sweden, once it’s safer to travel again. Also I would like write about the road trips through Ireland that we did. I have a lot of content, but writing in an interesting way is not easy.
Well, wish me luck!
