Before I start with Valentine's Day cards, I made a card with a very simple landscape. Again this card is very simple, perfect for beginners and it's also budget friendly. Besides that this is a very quick card to make, so this blog post is not going to be long either. To make this card, you will need watercolour supplies of your choice, you don't need anything fancy, just make sure your card stock is 300gsm/140lb. It's good to have a bigger brush for the background, I actually used a size 10 brush for all the painting. I taped my card stock onto a board using a washi tape, the board is just a cutting board. I did here the wet on dry technique, were you do not pre-wet your card stock. First I painted the sky, where I created an ombre effect. Starting very a dark colour at the top and at the bottom I just added a clear water, combining it with the light paint that was on the paper already. I let it dry, then I painted second layer, doing exactly the same. I also tilted the board so the paint falls down naturally and creates a smooth transition. After the second layer was dry I painted in the mountain. Just a single row at the bottom using a black paint. I started with a wavy line creating the mountain tops and then I filled it in with the paint. I let it dry and then I stamped the greeting. This is actually optional, recently I've been asked for neutral cards and I hardly have any. So after the Valentine's Day cards are over, I will be making some cards without any greeting. You never know when you need them. However here I put the greeting, I used a Congratulations stamp and I heat embossed it with a white embossing powder. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a grey card base using a simple double sided tape and that's it. The card is finished. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow.
