I have another Distress ink combination for you and this time I'm also using a stencil. Stencils are great as they are inexpensive, yet you can create really cool patterns.
The Distress inks I used - from top to bottom: - Chipped Sapphire - Vintage Photo - Tea Dye I used a watercolour card stock and I applied two layers of the ink. I started with the lightest shade (Tea Dye) as I didn't want the blending tool to pick up the darker colour and contaminate it. Once I was done with the first layer I placed the stencil over it and applied a second layer using the same inks as before.
Normally when you use a stencil, the pattern behind it is the same colour as the card stock. However, since I applied a layer of the Distress ink before using the stencil, the pattern was the same colour as the inks on the first layer. I think this effect is really cool.
I let the piece dry. I was going to use an embossing powder, therefore having a fully dried panel was important. After the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment. I used a big sentiment stamp set from Avery Elle that says Happy Birthday. First I treated the piece with an antistatic powder then I stamped the sentiment using the Versamark ink, sprinkled a white embossing powder and heat set it using a heat gun. That's the card for this blog post, super simple. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow. QUICK TUTORIAL
