Did I say I really like to paint leaves? More specifically I like to paint leaves that are simple, nothing complicated. And the leaf brunch I painted for this card is not just very easy, but also very quick to paint. I actually made multiple cards and changed the greeting on some of them, which turned out to be very useful as I wasn't able to make new cards for past three weeks and didn't have a card for Mother's Day. What happened we had our fireplace replaced from an old ceramic one, which wasn't efficient, to a modern one. The builder wrote us, we are coming tomorrow and we weren't expecting that. The fire place is in our office, so we had to move everything into other room. The installation should have taken just over the week, but the builder got ill. Then I got ill (this was unrelated, I did not interact with him), I have caught a cold and was out for over a week and was not able to make any cards, including my Mother's day cards and therefore I used this card with the leaf. It was lucky I made some with an other greeting that says Enjoy Your Day. This comes to show that you can re-purpose any card design and make it for other occasions as well. To make this card you will need products for watercolouring and a card base. Just use products you have already in your stash or you can afford. I started with the greeting, but you can leave it for the end. I tried it both ways and if you stamp it first, you know exactly where you need to paint the leaves. For the greeting I used a Thank You sentiment as I thought this painting is quite neutral, perfect for a thank you card. Next I used a long bristle brush to paint the stem. If you do not have this brush, just use the tip of a round brush. Next I used a size six round brush and painted the leaves. I used only one shade of green and for the first row of leaves I diluted the paint with water to make the first layer of leaves very light. Originally I wanted to paint mid-shade leaves and then a few very dark ones, but in the end I kept it mostly darker shade. I was able to paint each leaf with one stroke. Starting with the tip of the brush, then pushing down and the going back to the pointy tip. Some of the leaves I curved in different ways to make it more organic. I let the panel dry and once it was dry I used the green paint as well as a gold and splattered the paint over the painted leaf. After the panel was dry I used the gold paint and painted the edges of the panel to create a nice border. This is however optional. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a white card base using a liquid glue. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow.
