I really love making cards and I like sharing them here on my blog. However these days it is advisable to make videos as well, which for me it takes way too much time. It is also advisable to post at least once a week, if not more. This is for me not feasible, especially the voiceover takes me forever, I only manage to post three times a month. There are plenty of card ideas that do not need too much explanation. So I decided to come up with new series called "Quick Cards" with shorter videos, with music only that I will share through YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. This way I hope to be able to give you more inspiration and post more often.
I haven't decided yet if all my quick cards will have a theme, but a set of cards, starting with the card I'm sharing in today's blog post does have a theme. I love Distress inks, I would say this is one of my favourite products to use and I thought sharing various Distress ink blending combination might be a great idea.
For this card I used a blend of three Distress ink colours:
- Blueprint Sketch - Peacock Feathers - Lucky Clover I blended them all together using a blending brush. Each colour covered about a third of the card stock. The card stock is the Canson XL watercolour paper. Once I was done with the blending I used a clean brush to sprinkle few droplets across the panel. Then I took a paper towel to soak up the water and since Distress inks activate with water, the paper soak up the water with the droplets.
I didn't want to only make backgrounds, I wanted to make a finished cards. I took an old stamp set (I have never used) from Clearly Besotted, called Fresh Flowers and once the piece was fully dry I stamped one of the flowers. As I wanted to heat emboss, I first treated the card stock with an antistatic powder, then I used the Versamark ink for the stamping and lastly I sprinkled a white embossing powder over the stamped image and melted the powder using a heat tool.
I adhered the panel on top of a card base made out of a craft card stock and as a finishing touch I added few clear drops across the panel using Nuvo drops. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow. QUICK VIDEO
