I've been having troubles coming out with card ideas for which I could make a proper video tutorial with a voiceover. I have plenty of ideas for cards like the one in this blog post that are very simple to make for which I don't have much commentary and are more suited for vertical videos. So I decided that I will be making mainly vertical videos and now and then horizontal videos, which will only affect my YouTube Channel, where you will see less horizontal videos. In the blog posts I always have something to say and they are not going to change. The card in this blog post was such a fun to make. And it really came together when I blended the Distress inks. To paint the leaves, you can choose colours of your choice, I picked pink, orange and yellow. I started with the stem, just a slightly curved line, for which I used a long bristle brush. The brush is in the size 2, as that is all I have. Then I painted the leaves along the branch. I actually flipped the card stock to paint the leaves as I find it more comfortable to do it that way. I also like to use a smaller round brush, in this case the size 4. I was making a vertical card and I first painted three branches at the bottom, each in different colour and then painted one on each side, before I painted the tree branches on the other side. And lastly I painted a small branch in yellow between the first two branches, just to fill it up. When I was finished I thought this looks a little bit empty especially around the edges. It didn't look bad and you can stop here, but I thought it needed something and that something was blending Distress Inks in matching colours. I'm aware this product is not easily accessible to everyone and if you do not have have it, you can skip it. Keep also in mind that I'm using the Canson XL watercolour card stock that I cut into four equal panels. If you have ever used this card stock you know that you will not have a true A4 size once you remove it from the pad. It will be a little bit shorter and therefore my panels are also smaller. So when I'm using this card stock I prefer not to tape it and make it even shorter. If I taped the leaves might look different, maybe even fuller along the edges. I blended the inks Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed and I blended them along the edges of the panel. And I think it did help the background to come together. Next I added a little bit of splatter using the watercolours. Even if you skip on the ink blending, try adding splatter. That often adds some interest into the final image. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a white card base using a glue and after that I adhered the greeting using a foam tape. Recently I've been thinking what kind of greetings or what kind of cards people tend to send outside of Birthdays and some occasions. Thank you cards, Congratulations cards and maybe just saying simple Hello and that's why I decided to make a Hello card, as I do not make these too often.
