Back in spring I finally got most of my crafty stuff from Germany to Sweden, where I now live and I'm slowly getting through my things and re-discovering products that I haven't used for a long time. I'm telling you, it's like Christmas. One of the products I really wanted to use for a long time are powder watercolours. I have the ones from Brusho and Nuvo Shimmer Powders. For this card I used the ones from Nuvo, because I wanted to use the pink and purple colours to make a fun background. Plus these powders have also shimmer in them, adding a little bit of additional fun. I started by heat embossing a flower using a white embossing powder. The stamp set is from Clearly Besotted, it's called Fresh Flowers. This stamp set is quite old, but to my surprise, Clearly Besotted still has it in their shop. I do not work with them, but it's nice if the stamp set I'm using is still available. Next I used a spray bottle and sprayed my watercolour card stock with clean water. I did not taped down my card stock, so there was a lot of warping, but I wanted to have the most of the panel covered with paint. There are a few gaps, but those are intentional. After I sprayed the panel, I sprinkled the powder over it. I used the powders Cherry Bomb for the pink and Violet Brocade for the purple. I haven't used these powders for four years, however I remembered that I should tap on the bottle to get the powder out, instead of squeezing it. The first time I used these I squeezed the bottle and a lot of powder came out. I sprinkled the powders here and there, however they weren't mixing with the water. It might be because of the card stock, I used the Canson XL watercolour paper, which is a cheap card stock and it doesn't really take water very well - compared to more expensive card stock. So I took a damp brush and helped the colour to spread around. And while the paper was still wet, I sprinkled more pink over the flower, as I thought it wasn't vivid enough. I let it dry and then I adhered it onto a card base using a simple double-sided tape. I decided to make this into a thank you card. I have bunch of greetings pre-made (all of them are heat embossed in white on a black card stock) and I thought this greeting fit it the best. To adhere it I used double-sided foam squares. Remember the words you put on your card are up to you, just use what you have in your stash. Lastly, to add a little bit of sparkle to the card, I used a few clear jewels from Lucy's Cards and I adhered them onto the panel. I hope you will try making this card yourself.
