Even though Mother's Day is behind us I have for you one more card with a flower and I made a Birthday card. I painted a very simple lotus flower using acrylic paints. I'm not an expert on acrylic paints, I mostly use watercolours and even with those I'm still something like an advanced beginner. I just wanted to paint on a black card stock. I know that there are watercolours that are visible on a black card stock, like those metallic ones, but I don't own these watercolours. The products I used to paint the flower are acrylic paints, black card stock and a few brushes, nothing fancy. If you do not want to use acrylic paints, you can use watercolours and paint on a watercolour card stock, which I might do in the future. For the greeting I used products that not every person has, but if you do not have those things, just use a white gel pen. I first began with a sketch. This helped me with the shape of the petals and the size of the flower, as I have never drawn lotus flower before. For the sketch I managed to get in more petals that I did on the painted piece, however, it was still very helpful. To paint the flower, I started with the petals. I mixed the paints, I used pink and lightened it with wight and I mixed them on a laminated card stock, since it's easy to clean. I wanted the middle petal and the petals on each side to have different intensity. Because I squeezed out too much of the paint, I was gradually adding more of the bright pink. I painted five petals. As I mentioned, I followed my sketch. Now when I'm talking about it, maybe I should show you a photo. If you see it I managed to do that. Next I mixed green and white paints and I painted the stem. It is a little bit wobbly, but it was in the acceptable level. My hand always shakes, when I try to paint those straight lines. After the piece was dry, I worked on the greeting. I decided to heat embossed a Happy Birthday greeting using a white embossing powder. However, if you do not have stamps and embossing powder, you can get a white gel pen and write the greeting yourself. I first treated the panel with an antistatic powder, then I stamped the sentiment using the Versamark ink, sprinkled the embossing powder over it and melted the powder with my heat tool. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a white card base using a double-sided tape. I hope you will try making this card yourself.
