I really wanted to make a Christmas card with watercolour leaves. After considering a few options, I decided to paint a mistletoe coming from the top of the card. I started with stamping the greeting that says Merry Christmas. If you do not have stamps, just write the greeting yourself using a gel pen or fine-liner. I like to use a black ink for the greeting, but you can use what ever colour you want. The watercolours I used, I bought at Lidl. Those were tubes, so I bought a palette and squeezed them out and let them dry. The watercolours are only available at Lidl, so I can't link to them, but you can use any watercolours you want, the brand is not important. I started with a line for the branch, for which I used a long bristle brush. You can use the tip of a round brush, but I'm rather heavy handed and using a long bristle brush, makes it easier to paint lines. Next I painted the leaves and berries. The leaves I painted with a rounded top and pointy bottom attached to the stem. The berries I didn't attach to the stem, I just painted them very close to it. I also painted them in right away and was switching between the leaves and the berries. I painted four main stems and some of them had a few smaller stems attached, just to fill up the empty space. When you are painting your branches or stems, try to create a curve, just slightly, so it looks more natural. My last stem (the one on the right) is way too straight. It annoys me a little bit, however, overall I really like the result. To finish up the watercolouring, I painted the border of the watercolour panel, for which I used a brown paint. This is completely optional, it's something I like to do. Lastly I attached the panel on top of a card base using a double-sided tape. The card base I made out of a craft card stock.
