When it comes to landscapes cards for Christmas, I often have the dilemma, if I should make it as Christmas card or if I should wait and make them in January. The card today, even though, it could be a Birthday card, has a lot of gold in it, therefore I decided to make it for Christmas. However, let me know what you think, would this be better as a Birthday card? I started by drawing the moon and I used a cup for it. I only went half way along the edges of the cup with my pencil and then I aligned the cup in a way to create a quarter shape of the moon. After that I erased the excessed lines and also adjusted the lines at the top and the bottom. Next I painted the trees. First layer are those misty trees in the background. I applied clean water across the background where I want the trees to be and then carefully I painted in the trees. I painted them with the tip of my brush and because the background was wet, the colour spread around and this created the misty look. I dried it with my heat tool and then using two shades of green I painted the trees in the front. To paint the trees I started with a straight line and then in a zig-zag motion I created the brunches. I wanted to have a full forest and to fill up the gaps, I used the lighter green, otherwise I was mixing them up. And I painted them in different shapes and sizes. To paint the moon, I used a gold paint from the Kuretake, Gansai Tambi, Stary Colours watercolour set and I applied two layers. I also used another gold, to paint a few little stars across the sky. After the piece was dry, I stamped the greeting. I used a Merry Christmas sentiment from an old stamp set by Clearly besotted and I stamped it using the Versafine ink in Onyx black. I used here the Canson XL watercolour card stock, which I cut smaller than my card base, therefore I decided to paint the edges of the card stock using the gold paint, to create a nice border. Lastly I attached the watercolour panel onto a card base that I made out of a craft card stock and to adhere it I used a simple double-sided tape.
