Last week I was thinking I will make a quick video and a blog post, which didn't go as expected. The card was simple and quick to make, just the editing and writing took me a long time, plus I decided to do downloadables. So this week not only the card is very simple and quick to make, but I'm hoping this post is going to be short as well. I decided to paint a simple butterfly. To paint it you need watercolour supplies: watercolours, brush, watercolour card stock, jar or two with water and a paper towel. You also will need a black fineliner, but if you don't have one, you can use your watercolours. I started by drawing a simple shape of the body of the butterfly using a fineliner and I also filled in the body to make it black. Then I took my watercolours and painted the wings. Nothing too complicated, you can definitely go more detailed. I was inspired by colours of another butterfly painting that I saw on the internet, you can see it here, it's the logo. I liked the multiple colours on each wing. For the top bigger wing I used blue and and then I added green and for the bottom wing I used pink and and then I added purple. My colours didn't blend well, but I guess it's because of the card stock. I use a cheap watercolour card stock, which not always blends the colours well. Watercolour artists usually recommend using 100% cotton watercolour card stock for better results. I cannot comment on that as I have never used this paper. Don't get me wrong, I still like the result, but this is something to be aware of. Often it's the card stock you are using. Sometimes I would say, it's the sheet and the next one performs differently. I let it dry and then I added some splatter. Once that was dry I stamped a greeting that says Especially For You from a stamp set by Clearly Besotted. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a white card base. This time I cut it exactly to the size and I used a simple double-sided adhesive to adhere it. You can see a quick video of me making this card on my YouTube channel or Instagram and make sure you subscribe/follow.
