Today I have another quick inspiration for you using pencil colours, you can use any type of colouring medium, but I wanted to use pencils. In addition to that I also used a stencil and embossing paste to create an interesting background.
I started with the embossing paste as it needed some time to dry. I mixed the embossing paste with the Rusty Hinge Distress ink, which is optional I just wanted it to be a sort of terracotta type of a colour. Then I placed a stencil with a brick pattern over the card base and using my palette knife I applied the paste. I didn't want to cover the whole front of the card base, just so it's visible once I place the flower on top of it. I also didn't want the application to be smooth, this is a look that I really like when using an embossing paste. While the paste was drying I coloured the sunflower using Faber-Castell Plychromo colouring pencils. The colours I used are: Yellow: 187 and 185, Brown: 177 and 176, Green: 174 and 168
As always I didn't do anything complicated. I used two different shades for each colour and tried to create little bit of depth.
Next I cut out the flower using scissors, doing little bit of fussy cutting, like in the video with the leaves. Once the brick background was dry, using a double-sided foam tape, I adhered the flower together with a sentiment that I heat embossed in white on top of a black banner. With these quick cards I don't include too much information about the products, but if you would like to know which products I used, just drop me a line.
