Before I start with my Christmas card series, I have for you one more card for the autumn. I love wreaths and that’s why I really wanted to make an autumnal card with a wreath. I painted a wreath twice before, one fore Christmas last year, which you can see here and the other was for Mother’s Day and that card you can see here. These cards are quite similar therefore I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and do something slightly different. So, I decided to paint multiple brunches of leaves in different autumnal colours that curve in a circle. The products are very basic and minimal. I used watercolours, watercolour card stock and two brushes. One brush is a size 8 round brush. I would have loved to try a size 6 and I do have a brush in this size, but not from this company. I’m not even sure if they make any other brushes then those that are in the set. I just really like the size 8 as it has a very pointy tip. I also used a long bristle brush that I bought recently. I bought it for painting long thin lines, which was perfect for painting the brunch. However, if you do not have this brush, you can use the tip of your round brush as well. Although I think the long thin lines are easier to do with the long bristle brush, but I still need a lot of practice as it requires a light, steady hand. I also used a compass to draw the circle as a guide for the wreath. And of course I had products to make the card, like a card base, adhesive and a stamp with a greeting that I was going to heat emboss. I began by drawing the circle for the wreath and then I painted the individual brunches. I started by painting a thin line for the brunch using the long bristle brush and then I switched to the size 8 round brush to paint the individual leaves. I painted five brunches altogether, for the first one I used a red paint, then orange, yellow, orange-brown and lastly brown. When it comes to watercolouring, I’m still learning. I follow a lot of content creators on YouTube and Instagram and when they paint leaves they often do it in two strokes, sometimes even in one. My skills are not there yet, while on my trial card I was able to paint some in two strokes, for this card I needed more then two strokes. Despite of that I’m very happy with the results. After I painted the wreath I added little bit of splatter using the same colours and then I stamped a sentiment. I chose a stamp that says With Love, but you can use what ever greeting you need for your occasion. I stamped the sentiment with the Versamark ink and then I heat embossed it using the Metallic Coper embossing powder from Wow. I say this every time I make a card, but most of the time I feel like the card is missing something, when it doesn’t have some kind of boarder. The simplest here was to take the paint, brown more specifically and paint the edges of the panel. Lastly I adhered the panel on top of a card base using a double-sided tape. The card base I made out of a craft card stock. That’s it, this is may last autumnal card of this year. I hope you liked it and will create something similar.
