As I mentioned in my blog post with the card, where I created a background with the bokeh effect that this was not the card I was planing to post at that time. The cards in this blog posts, were my initial idea, when I decided to use my geometric stamps. I saw few posters on Pinterest that caught my attention, posters with various geometric art. I really like this kind of art, it’s very modern and I thought this would be a great idea for a card as well. So I took out my geometric stamps from Create A Smile, you could use also stencils with Distress inks or similar. And since I was using solid stamps, I used dye inks to stamp (plus Versafine ink in Onyx black, which is a pigment ink). I was pretty much limited when it comes to the colour selection, together with the black I only have eleven colours. If you have more, you can go wild. I used the Bristol card stock from Canson and for most of the stamping I primarily used my Mini Misti stamping tool, mainly because I wanted to re-stamp, but also it helped with the positioning of the stamps. In the video you don’t see me repositioning the stamps, because that would be just tedious to watch, but I used a grid paper to reposition them. However, I also tried stamping with acrylic blocks and it worked as well. For the sentiment I used a stamp set from Clearly Besotted, I would have liked a sentiment with big block typed script, I think that would make it little bit more modern, but I don’t own such stamp set. And also from Clearly Besotted I used a stamp with diagonal stripes. I have to mention, I didn’t copy any of those posters literally, I mainly took those posters as an inspiration, including the first card with the stacked triangles, which would be the closest replica of some posters that I saw. The inspiration is from multiple artist, e.g. PrintAvenue. If any one wants to copy what I made, you are most welcome to do so, if you share online, I would appreciate if you mention and tagged me in your caption. CARD 1: STACKED TRIANGLESFor the first card I used the biggest triangle stamp and stamped four triangles facing down, one after the other, slightly overlapping each other. I used purple and pink dye inks from MFT. Once I was done with the triangles I stamped the sentiment. To finish up the card I thought there is too much white space, so I took the diagonal stamps from Clearly Besotted and stamped diagonal stripes on another card stock. You can stamp directly onto the card base or the panel with the triangles, but the stamps from this set are too short and do not cover the whole card from top to bottom, so I had to reposition the stamp and stamp again. It took few tries and because I didn’t want to ruin the panel with the triangles or the card base, I stamped on a separate card stock. If you don’t have stamps, you can also use pattern paper. And then I adhered the panel with the triangles on top of the card base. CARD 2: TRIANGLES BACKGROUND MODERN DESIGN The next card was probably my first inspirations, even before I started searching through Pinterest. I really like this particular design and I could not make cards with geometric shapes without this type of design. I’m using here three inks, blue, black and grey and four stamps, outlines and solid, in two different sizes. I started with the big solid triangles, which were based on one specific poster from that shop I mentioned earlier. After that I continued with my own design, which was pretty much random stamping. To finish up the card, this was actually the last card I made, I didn’t want to do the diagonal stripes again. But I wanted to add something to bring everything together, otherwise it would look quite empty, like something is missing. So I tried creating a frame using a black marker and I think that worked and it looks more complete. CARD 3: ROW OF CIRCLES The third card is similar to the first card, except I used here the circle stamp and I stamped horizontally. Here the Misti came very handy, as I needed more shades than I had. Originally I tried to re-stamp multiple times to create darker and lighter shade with that second ink, but it looked too similar. But I needed more colours to fill up the panel, so I thought I will try mixing the shades and that worked better, especially on the fifth circle. Again I used the diagonal stamp to stamp the two sides of the card base. This time I was able to stamp directly on top of the card base as I was making a landscape card. CARD 4: HEXAGONS BACKGROUND MODERN DESIGN Similar to the background with the triangles, except the initial inspiration wasn’t a poster, but these hexagon lights that I’ve seen people putting on their walls. I used the colours black, grey and yellow and this time I used acrylic blocks for the stamping. The yellow and black stamped without any problems, but the grey was rather blotchy and didn't even out. However, it was just easier and less tedious to stamp with acrylic blocks. Again I used pre-stamped diagonal stripes and for the sentiment I used a heat embossed black banner. I think it fits the card very nicely. These are all the cards, for sure I could make much more.
