In my previous blog post I made a background where I painted using a squeegee. You can see the blog post here. This is a very fun technique, very addictive and you could create endless amounts of amazing backgrounds. I restricted myself to two, the one from last blog post and in this one. I really wanted to make a background with horizontal stripes and that's what I did. NOTE: If you would like to know what kind of products I used and find out some tips and trick about this technique, make sure you check out my previous blog post. To create the background I first taped my card stock onto a board using a washi tape. The tape is very useful as you can apply the paint over it. Next I squished a little domed dots of paint in various colours. I needed enough paint to make a line that reaches the other side. I also didn't want the line to be too wide. If you have a squeegee that is as wide as the side of your card stock, you can place the paint from top to bottom along the side of the card stock on top of the washi. My squeegee is smaller so I placed the paint in two sections, at the top and bottom of the card stock. I placed enough of dots of paint for my squeegee size. After I was happy with the paint, I took my squeegee and scooped the paint to the other side of the card stock. In my case first at the top of the panel and then at the bottom. As I scooped the bottom part of the paint, I forgot to clean my squeegee and the paint on the squeegee mixed with the paint on the paper. While this wasn't planned, I liked the look. As I said in my previous blog post, it is really difficult to mess up these paintings in a way so they are unusable. This background is a great example. I let the background dry and I decided to add a few black stripes. They came out a bit too wide as I planned, but still no problem. Then I also used a bright pink and silver and gold metallic paints. The pink wasn't necessary as you could not see it. The metallic paints were at least visible in the light. I let the pane dry and then I adhered it on top of a white card base. I used a big bold greeting that I stamped with a black ink on top of a vellum. At least in my experience the ink never dries so I used a clear embossing powder to set it in. Lastly I adhered the greeting on top of the card using very tiny pieces of a double-sided tape and placed them behind the letters so you cannot see them. I hope you like this card idea and will try making this card yourself. Make sure you check out my video on YouTube and give it a Like as well.
