I haven't been making cards for Easter for a while now. My main reason is, I don't have a use for them. For me Easter is not an occasion I would give cards. However it is still fun to make them. Last year I made two and this year the Easter creative bug got me again and I decided to make a few cards, starting with the one in this blog post. This card might look complicated, but in fact it's very simple and quick to make. As long as you have the products, you will be able to make it. You will need an egg die, embossing folder and inks that can be blended, like Distress inks. The colouring method is up to you. NOTE: While I'm making an Easter card you can create a card for other occasions, with different die-cut shapes. To make this card I started by die-cutting the egg. I picked a die that is slightly smaller than my card base. Then I placed the die-cut egg into an embossing folder and run it through my die-cutting machine. You can use any embossing folder you want. When I came up with this idea I didn't have any specific embossing folder in mind. I just went through my stash and picked an folder I thought fits best. If you like the embossed egg as it is, without any colour, you can use it for a card like that. It does look very nice just white, but I wanted to add some colour. I used the Distress inks, as I specifically wanted to see the colour combination of the Lucky Clover and Wilted Violet. I thought these colours will look very nice together and at least in my opinion I was right. I blended the Lucky Clover at the top of the egg and the Wilted Violet at the bottom. I applied a few layers of each ink to create a nice vibrant colour and I was also blending the inks together in the middle to create a smooth transition. The middle blend created a very nice blue colour. This card was actually inspired by a card that I made in the autumn, where I embossed a background, also blended inks and lastly I used the bronze Perfect Pearls. You can see the card here. I wanted to use the Perfect Pearls here as well as it add a very nice shimmer to the card. I picked the colour Perfect Pearl which is just a clear shimmer and using a dry brush I applied the powder over the raised areas. I remembered later that on my autumnal card I also used the Versamark ink and dabbed the raised areas, before I used the powder. Here I just forgot and I don't really know if it's actually needed. All I know is that you need to use water to set the powder, which I did. I sprayed the background with a clean water. Since I was using Distress inks, I knew they can reactivate. When I did this before, I didn't have such problem, but here they slightly reactivated. However, this wasn't a problem for me. Next I crated a small tag with the greeting. I used two different stamps to create "Happy Easter" and then I die-cut a tag. I attached the tag onto a silver twine that I wrapped around the egg and I tied it into a bow. Before I attached the egg onto the card base, I decided to add a little bit of splatter, especially over the corners of the card. I used the Distress inks and squished them onto an acrylic block, added a clean water and splattered the background. Once the splatter was dry, I adhered the egg on top using a double-sided tape. Lastly I used the Nuvo Drops and added a few embellishments across the card. I hope you like this card and will try making this card yourself.
