Leaves are starting to fall, which always inspires me to use them for something crafty. Last year I used the leaves for stamping and I made one more card, which I didn't manage to release. Luckily cards do not get bad and now I can show you the card that I made.
I picked two oak leaves. I like to pick the exact amount I will be needing, but you should be able to re-use it at least once. How many leaves you need depends on the size of the leaf and the size of the card stock. I used the Canson XL watercolour card stock and I secured it with a washi onto a board to prevent warping.
You will need acrylic paints for the stamping, or more precisely white paint. The paint is quite thick and it creates texture. I applied the paint over the back of the leaf and then I flipped it over and pressed it onto my watercolour card stock. I repeated this with the second leaf and then I let the piece dry.
For the colouring of the leaves I used the Nuvo Shimmer powders, but you can use the standard watercolours. These powders react with water, they are very pigmented and have shimmer in them. Here I used the red and pink shades . First I applied a clean water over the leaf impression and then I sprinkled the powder over it. Using a damp brush I helped the powders to move, if needed I added more powder and just let the colours combine and move across the wet area.
After the paint was dry, I mixed the powders with water in a palette and sprinkled a few droplets across the panel. I also used golden watercolour to add additional colour for the splatter. I also used the gold paints and painted the edges of the card stock.
Next I picked a die with a greeting that says celebrate and die cut it three times out of a white card stock and once out of a golden glitter card stock. Just to add some sparkle to the card. I glued all the die-cuts together, this is for dimension, to have the greeting really pop. And I adhered the greeting in the middle of the panel with the leaves.
And lastly I adhered the panel on top of a card base. The card base is made out of a craft card stock and I purchased already pre-made.
