Making cards for Halloween is a little bit weird for me. Not only I don't celebrate it, but I don't see it as a card giving occasion. Well unless you are making invitations to a party. However, Halloween cards are fun cards to make. Even me, who doesn't celebrate it, managed to come up with a few card designs. This year though, I only will be making one card, therefore I decided to create a blog post with three of my favourite Halloween card ideas, that I would highly recommend. HALLOWEEN CARD WITH A SPOOKY DISTRESS INK BLENDING & TREE SILHOUETTEI'm starting with my favourite Halloween card I ever made, mainly because I didn't use stamps (except of the greeting). But you can use stamps, if you find them. I'm sure there is some spooky tree stamp set out there. I wanted to draw a spooky tree silhouette and the rest I build around it. The background I created by blending brown Distress inks, creating a gradient. If you don't have those inks, you could use watercolours. I used black gouache for the silhouettes, but you can also use black alcohol marker. To paint the silhouettes, I started with the ground, than the tree and lastly the bird and the grave yard. The tree as well as the bird I drew with a pencil first, before I started painting. QUICK AND SIMPLE HALLOWEEN CARDThis card is a great idea if you need to make something like invitations, where you need multiple ones and do not want spend too much time making them. The background is painted with watercolours, just simple stripes. Here you can change the colours, if you want a little bit variety. And then add a greeting and some embellishments. I had a silhouette sentiment stamp with pumpkins, which is a very old product and definitely not available anymore. However what is great about card making supplies, is when you don't find the same products, you will for sure find something similar. I used this stamp because I don't have anything else. Big bold greeting, or some silhouette stamp would work perfectly with this design. HALLOWEEN CARD WITH A WATERCOLOUR BLACK CATThis card with watercolour cat was such a fun to make and it is just as easy as the previous one, but requires more than painting stripes. The idea is to use the wet on wet technique to create fur. I started with a sketch that is intentionally smaller than the finished cat. This is because of the wet on wet technique, the paint will expand. After I drew the sketch I used a clean water and applied it over the whole image, as well as outside of the lines of the image for the paint to spread. Next I added the black paint, this time only inside of the lines of the sketch. The paint started expanding, which create fuzzy edges, which looks like fur. After the painting was dry I painted in the whiskers, added splatter and adhered a banner with a greeting. I hope you feel inspired by these tree examples, they are prefect if you are new to card making and either do not have that many supplies, or do not want to spend too much on new products, or you want to create something completely from scratch. I would love, if you pinned it to your board on Pinterest!
